Introducing Campaign MRI: The Marketing Audit Tool That Grades Your Campaign Before You Launch

Most marketing campaigns fail quietly.

Not because the creative was bad. Not because the budget was too small. They fail because nobody asked the hard strategic questions after building the plan — before the money moved. Audience targeting was assumed instead of validated. The message was broad enough to appeal to everyone, yet specific enough to resonate with no one. The channel strategy was chosen out of habit rather than intent.

Campaign MRI was built to change that.

What Is Campaign MRI?

Campaign MRI is a free pre-launch marketing audit tool that grades your campaign strategy across five critical categories before you spend a dollar, brief an agency, or publish a single ad.

In under two minutes, marketers answer a series of targeted questions about their campaign. Campaign MRI scores the strategy out of 100 and highlights where it is strong, where it is at risk, and what should be improved before launch.

Sage, D’Marketing Society’s AI marketing analyst, then reviews the score, campaign brief, and creative assets to deliver a detailed analysis. It explains what the score means, identifies the risks most likely to waste budget, and provides a prioritized action plan tailored to the campaign type, audience, and channels.

No generic advice. No vanity metrics. Just a second opinion before it’s too late to make meaningful changes.

The LEVER Framework

Campaign MRI evaluates strategy across five critical categories that determine whether a campaign succeeds or quietly drains budget.

L – Leverage: Are you activating the assets, audiences, and relationships you already have, or are you paying to build reach from scratch?

E – Evidence: Does your campaign have proof behind its promise through real data, results, and credibility?

V – Velocity: Can the campaign build momentum over time, or does performance disappear the moment spending stops?

E – Economics: Do the numbers work? Is your projected customer acquisition cost realistic given your margins and conversion assumptions?

R – Relevance: Is your message reaching the right audience at the right moment, or are you speaking to the wrong people at the wrong time?

A campaign can look polished and still score a 48 in the Economics category. It can feature exceptional creative yet score a 51 on Relevance because the messaging doesn’t align with where the audience is in its buying journey. LEVER identifies those gaps before your budget pays the price.

Why We Built It

Founder D’Marco Saunders kept noticing the same mistakes repeated.

Campaigns launched with messaging that had never been validated outside the company. Budgets were committed to channels because someone preferred them, not because the data supported them. Briefs described the product in detail while barely mentioning the customer.

Behind those recurring mistakes, D’Marco noticed a larger shift.

“When I came out of college, I had mentors — people above me who gave me room to learn through trial and error, run A/B tests, and make mistakes without it costing a client or my job,” Saunders said. “That environment made me better at what I do. That environment is disappearing.”

AI is changing entry-level marketing faster than many organizations are prepared for. The environments where young marketers once developed practical instincts are shrinking. Internships have become the baseline expectation, yet new marketers are still expected to contribute immediately with limited real-world experience. The gap between classroom learning and day-to-day marketing has become more expensive to close, just as teams have become leaner and expectations have grown.

The tools designed to bridge that gap were either locked inside enterprise agency software or available only through experienced strategists charging hundreds of dollars per hour. There was no free, fast, and practical resource a marketer could use the hour before a brief was submitted, or when a junior marketer needed another perspective but didn’t have a mentor nearby.

Campaign MRI was built to become that second opinion. Built on the LEVER framework and powered by Sage AI, it helps marketers identify strategic weaknesses before launch — whether they’re just starting their careers, managing client campaigns, or leading demand generation for an organization.

“It’s the second set of eyes for marketers who don’t have a mentor in the room,” Saunders said.

What’s Next

Campaign MRI is the first product in a growing suite of tools from D’Marketing Society.

The Campaign Brief Builder, which helps marketers structure their audience, messaging, budget, and channel strategy before running a Campaign MRI, is already in early access. Sage Fix Mode, a premium feature that moves beyond identifying problems to recommending solutions, is scheduled for release later this year.

The goal isn’t to replace experienced strategists. It’s to make the strategic thinking they bring available to every marketer, every time, before a campaign goes live.
